The Great Debate: Prada vs. Zara
The majority of people will agree that Zara’s SS12 shoe collection really has been quite remarkable not least because this popular brand has offered hit after hit of truly covetable styles. In addition to this, their ability to mimic popular high fashion styles to create more affordable alternatives has proved to be quite popular. An example of this is Zara’s black strappy sandal which bears an uncanny similarity to Prada’s suede sandal. Clearly there is a distinction between the two styles but the staggering price difference cannot be ignored, Prada’s retailing at £515 compared to Zara’s £39.99 price tag. If you are a devoted high fashion fan, do you think Zara’s offering is good enough an alternative or would you still rather invest in Prada’s coveted style?

I think it’s good to invest in pieces you know will get a lot of use out of – good shoes and bags are definitely at the top of my ‘investment’ list.

If there is a huge difference in quality and small price difference, I say go for the more expensive, higher quality item; but in a situation like this, I definitely say opt for the lower cost alternative! As much as I love to look at Prada’s beautiful creations every season, it seems a bit silly (to put it nicely) to blow $500 on shoes in this economy.
Honestly, I’ve never really understood the term “investment pieces”. I never buy an item of clothing with the intention of throwing it away at the end of the season; true style is about taking those items and remixing them in future seasons to create new, interesting, unique looks – not about buying an entirely new closet every year. #justsayin

WOW! Those shoes are really similar! In this case, I would definately go with the shoe from Zara.
