Event: Matches SS13 Press Day

Yesterday summer returned briefly when I attended the SS13 Matches press day, which was a welcome respite during this current bitterly cold weather! The heat was seemingly turned up when I was greeted by a riotous colour palette of hot pinks, red, oranges and neon hues, which are particularly dominant in the resort collections. For those who still have an appetite for loud prints, there is a repeat performance in the form of pretty floral patterns on dresses, jackets and trousers (Erdem and Dolce & Gabbana providing examples) as well as graphic geometry from Givenchy and Missoni amongst others. For SS13, striking prints have also been applied to denim as seen at J Brand and Current/Elliott. The graphic theme extends to the main trends with monochromatic black and white leading the charge as seen at Marc Jacobs and Peter Pilotto. Neutral perennial summer favourites including white, nude and blush hues provide a calm and refreshing alternative to their loud print cousins.

This taster of SS13 Spring/Summer promises a great spring and summer at Matches, and it can’t get here fast enough! For now though, it’s back to the reality of a bitterly cold winter.
